Highlighting India’s long-standing philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The world is one family), the defence minister said that while India advocates for peace, it must stay prepared for conflict to maintain peace both domestically and globally. He stressed the importance of preparedness in light of evolving international dynamics.
During his visit to Lucknow, Singh also offered prayers at the Khatu Shyam Mandir.
On September 5, the defence minister presided over the inaugural session of the Joint Commanders’ Conference (JCC) in Lucknow. Addressing senior military officials, he emphasized the critical need for jointness and integration among the three services to tackle future challenges.
Singh lauded the Armed Forces for their dedication in safeguarding national interests and contributing to the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India).
Rajnath Singh’s address underscored the theme of the conference, ‘Sashakt aur Surakshit Bharat: Transforming the Armed Forces,’ reiterating India’s position as a peace-loving nation that nonetheless requires a well-prepared military to preserve that peace. He urged military commanders to adopt a joint military vision and develop strategies to respond swiftly and decisively to future provocations.
Drawing on lessons from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Israel-Hamas tensions, and the current situation in Bangladesh, Singh called on the commanders to assess these conflicts, anticipate potential challenges for India, and be ready to tackle the “unexpected.”
He also stressed the need for a thorough analysis from top military leadership, particularly regarding the situation along the Northern border and developments in neighboring countries. Singh warned that these factors could potentially threaten regional peace and stability.
